I had SUCH a GOOD TIME planning Helen and Folarin's wedding with them!!! The Big Day took place at the Four Seasons Hotel on Palm Beach and from start to finish there were elegant, tropical and unique afro-asian details. Hitch of the day: It rained and the pool/beach-side ceremony was moved inside. BUT, it's good luck on your wedding day, right?? It rained on mine!
SOOOOO.... it was a scramble to get the ceremony in place in the back up spot, which was the Four Season's beautiful ballroom. I CAN'T WAIT to see the professional pictures. This is just a taste of what the ceremony and reception looked like, pictures taken by family and friends.
Above, Bishop Sean Alexander guides Helen and Folarin through the unity candle ceremony. We chose to submerge vanda orchids in water, topped with a floating candle for their unity candles instead of the traditional style. Florist, Kim Henry made magnificent ceremony pieces with hydrangea and willow branches that framed the lovely couple's "altar."
The bride is glowing and the crowd is ecstatic!
The reception room is "aglow" with uplighting and palms framing the room. We draped the wall to the back of the dance floor to soften the "airwall" that separates sections of the ballroom. A "gobo" with the couple's monogram lights up the space where they dance their first dance.
The colors were "jasper" and orange, the muted blue/green "jasper" color was brought in with the bridesmaid's Jim Hjelm dresses as well as other elements. The tables were topped with custom made runners, silver beaded belmont chargers, orange shimmer napkins, custom menu cards and statuesque centerpieces with "kissing balls" topping orange filled vases, embellished with peacock feathers and vanda orchids. The escort cards, picked up by guests during cocktail hour, were made of clementines topped with guest names and their respective tables. Place cards were tied at the back of silver chiavari chairs. No traditional escort or place card will do for this special bride! Beautiful parasols of henna design bring in an asian element to finish the room with a true multicultural elegance. BOY did we have fun planning....
The cake! Beaded with jasper colored beads and topped with orange fruits, "A True Love Meant To Last" was inscribed on the front. This inscription was a common thread brought from the invitations, also seen on the menu cards, in the DVD slideshow and finally on the cake!
So many details made this wedding a personalized "wedding planner treat!" We had so much fun planning and it was SUCH a gorgeous, fun and unique wedding. Many thanks to the Four Seasons, Palm Beach for making the process such a pleasure. Cheers to Helen and Fola!
